SEABER’s YUCO-SCAN Micro-AUV

Let’s track a 35mm cable with a micro-AUV!

SEABER recently worked with a French surveying company to conduct surveys using the YUCO-SCAN micro-AUV. The survey mission was to identify and track a 35 mm telecom cable over 1 km in water depths up to 50 m. During the mission, YUCO-SCAN was able to easily identify and survey the cable on the seabed and detect any potential problems.

The YUCO-SCAN is a compact, one-man portable micro-AUV which is a cost effective and simple way to perform bathymetric surveys. The micro-AUV is equipped with a 680kHz Side Scan Sonar which provides great quality images with high-stability and accurate navigation. The YUCO-SCAN can be combined with optional video and light to provide a complete underwater vision package. The INX navigation and DVL can achieve navigation accuracy better than +/-1% without requiring any external elements such as acoustic telemetry.

SEABER’s micro-AUVs are designed to fill in the gaps for coastal water monitoring and are capable of managing coastal areas with waves and currents. The YUCO AUV range can navigate to depths of 300m with 8-10 hours autonomy, weighing 10kg and measuring 1m long. For more information on SEABER’s micro-AUV range, contact the team at BlueZone.
