Obscape’s New OBS-BUOY7W Wave Buoy
Setting New Standards for Wave Measurements
Obscape has released a new and impressive OBS-BUOY7W Wave Buoy. The solar-powered OBS-BUOY7W is designed to suit a range of wave observations, regardless of the location and budget. Accurate real-time wave data provides the user with real-time data through a robust telemetry solution (4g, 2g or satellite) to the powerful and free-to-use Obscape Data Portal. The ruggedness and functionality of the OBS-BUOY7W are the same as the previous Wave Buoys, but with improved features.
Some of the newest features include:
- The latest electronic technology for improved processing and less power consumption.
- Stainless Steel bottom mooring plate for increased structural strength and capability in even more extreme offshore conditions than before.
- More powerful and rugged Solar Panels for better supremacy and competence for deployment at higher latitudes.
The OBS-BUOY7W uses a combination of motion sensors and an electronic compass to measure the directional wave field with high accuracy. This yields the directional wave spectrum and all parameters that can be derived from it, such as the 1-dimensional energy-density spectrum and a range of bulk wave parameters (significant wave height, peak wave period, peak wave direction, etc.).
