Submersible AIS-Compatible Beacon

The Petrel is an AIS-compatible recovery beacon that operates analogously to an AIS Aid to Navigation (AtoN). Designed for short-range tracking and recovery, the Petrel automatically displays its location on nearby vessels AIS chartplotter when within sufficient range. With no additional devices, software, or data plans required, the Petrel is the most convenient recovery beacon on the market. The Petrel is fully submersible and has been rated to 11,000 meters below sea level. During surfacing events, the water sense detection circuit provides a measure of reliability unavailable in mechanical methods. Applications for the Petrel beacon include: Autonomous vehicle tracking & recovery, Deep sea mooring recovery, and Ocean bottom Seismeter recovery
