UVS was pleased to announce at Ocean Business 2015 that a Teledyne OceanScience Z-Boat will be added to the UVS demo/rental fleet as of May 2015. The Z-Boat will be delivered in time for a comprehensive demonstration at ADCPs in Action in Australia on the Gold Coast 12 to 13 May 2015. Adrian McDonald of Teledyne OceanScience will be attending ADCPs in Action to provide full training and demonstration of the Z-Boat.

The Z-Boat provides a versatile and adaptable platform for many applications including coastal and inshore hydrographic surveys, river discharge measurement and the possibility to integrate sonars, cameras and other instruments for many types of surveys including:

  • Odom CV100 Single Beam Echo Sounder
  • Odom MB1 Multi Beam Echo Sounder
  • Tritech Starfish Side Scan Sonar
  • Blueview M900 imaging sonars
  • HD camera
  • RDI RiverPro ADCP

Options for autonomous control can be implemented supporting all types of applications where the Z-Boat can be used in place of the human survey in harsh or dangerous conditions. The Z-Boat leverages the Teledyne range of ocean and river sensors by providing new and effective ways to deploy the sensors in many environments.UVS Chief Technology Officer, Darren Burrowes, said that the Z-Boat was an excellent complement to the markets served and products offered to UVS customers, “The UVS engineering team has the capability to assist customers with the integration of all types of sensors for many purposes and we look forward to finding new and innovative applications for the Z-Boat”, said Darren. The UVS service team will be fully trained to support all aspects of Z-Boat fault-finding, maintenance and repair providing full local support in Australia.
