TERAMARA SUBS™

Streamlined Instrument Buoys

Teramara’s SUBS (Streamlined Underwater Buoyancy System) is designed to provide stable, low-drag platforms for moored oceanographic instruments, such as current meters and ADCPs, in the most challenging marine environments. Their ability to maintain instrument orientation and depth has revolutionized oceanographic data collection. They are reliable and require low maintenance, making them optimal for long-term ocean monitoring.

Ideal application for researchers and marine engineers.

Key Features:

  • Streamlined Shape: Unlike traditional spherical buoys, SUBS buoys have an ellipsoid profile that significantly reduces drag and vortex shedding, improving mooring stability and data quality.
  • Improved Depth-Keeping: Their design minimizes mooring excursions and inclination, helping instruments maintain consistent depth and orientation.
  • Self-Compensating: They adjust naturally to mooring angle and flow direction, reducing the need for complex mooring configurations.
  • Durable Construction: Made from UV-protected HDPE and equipped with either Viny floats or glass balls for buoyancy, they’re built for long-term deployments in coastal and deep-sea environments.
  • Depth Ratings: Models are available for shallow (200 m) and deep (up to 6000 m) water applications.
