Making Waves in the Littoral Zone: BlueZone Group at Land Forces 2026

While much of Land Forces 2026 focused on drones, land systems and emerging battlefield technologies, BlueZone Group brought something different to the exhibition floor: a comprehensive showcase of capability designed for the world’s most contested operational environment, the littoral zone.

As one of the only exhibitors presenting a dedicated subsea and littoral warfare capability, BlueZone Group’s stand highlighted the growing importance of Littoral Warfare Integrated Capability (LIWC) in supporting Defence, law enforcement and security agencies operating where land and sea converge.

The modern littoral battlespace presents unique challenges. Shallow waters, complex coastlines, ports, harbours and archipelagic environments demand a combination of reconnaissance, security, autonomy, underwater communications and highly skilled personnel. Success in these environments requires the seamless integration of technology, operators and mission systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Military Diving and Diver Safety

Diving teams continue to play a critical role in underwater reconnaissance, infrastructure inspection, EO clearance and maritime security operations. Ensuring diver safety while maintaining operational effectiveness was a key theme across the display.

BlueZone showcased a range of technologies supporting military and public safety diving missions, including Blueprint Subsea’s ArtemisPro SX, ArtemisIRIS, SeaTrac D100 navigation beacons and systems. These technologies provide accurate underwater positioning, tracking and diver management capabilities, improving situational awareness and reducing operational risk.

Supporting this capability were SUEX Elite and Nero Diver Propulsion Vehicles (DPVs), designed to extend mission reach and endurance, alongside JJ Rebreathers, providing low-signature solutions for demanding operational environments. Together, these systems enable divers to operate more safely, for longer periods and with greater confidence in complex underwater environments.

Securing Ports, Harbours and Critical Infrastructure

As global maritime security challenges continue to evolve, protecting ports, harbours and critical infrastructure remain a priority for Defence, Police and security organisations. The ability to rapidly assess underwater threats, monitor activity and deploy assets below the surface is becoming increasingly important for force protection and security operations.

Reducing risk to personnel was a key theme of BlueZone’s display. Blueprint’s ArtemisSAR enables rapid underwater search and reconnaissance, allowing operators to assess an area before committing divers to the water. Once a target is identified, ArtemisIRIS enhances Clearance Diver capability through hands-free navigation, positioning and imaging, supporting close-up inspections, EOD tasks and evidence recovery. Together, these technologies improve situational awareness, increase operational effectiveness and, most importantly, help keep divers safe in challenging underwater environments.

The Future of Archipelagic and Littoral Operations

Operations in littoral and archipelagic environments demand rapid collection of environmental and tactical information. From coastal reconnaissance through to amphibious operations, commanders require accurate understanding of the underwater environment before forces can safely manoeuvre.

The future battlespace is progressing toward autonomous, and uncrewed systems working alongside human operators to deliver greater operational reach and persistence. This capability was represented through BlueZone’s LWIC focused approach.

The HII REMUS 300 autonomous underwater vehicle represented capability in littoral survey and maritime reconnaissance. Designed for detailed seabed mapping and data collection, systems such as REMUS support mission planning, route clearance and environmental assessment activities that are critical to naval and amphibious operations.

Complementing survey and reconnaissance capabilities, close-up inspection and threat neutralisation remain critical components of littoral operations. ROVs such as the Deep Trekker Revolution, SRS Fusion and VideoRay Defender provide operators with the ability to investigate contacts, conduct detailed inspections and assess threats while keeping personnel out of harm’s way. Where direct intervention is required, Clearance Divers remain essential for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and underwater threat neutralisation. Rounding out the capability, Greensea IQ’s Bayonet 250 delivers autonomous surf zone operations, bridging the gap between sea and shore and supporting safer, more effective amphibious and littoral missions.

Perhaps most importantly, SeeByte demonstrates how diverse assets from multiple OEMs can be connected into a cohesive operational framework. Through software-enabled command, mission management and autonomy, survey systems, divers, ROVs and uncrewed platforms can work together to support successful mission outcomes, including complex landing and littoral insertion operations.

A Big Blue Impact

Against a backdrop of aerial drones, armoured vehicles and land-focused technologies, BlueZone’s stand delivered a uniquely maritime perspective on modern Defence operations. The strong interest from visitors reinforced the growing recognition that future military and security operations will increasingly depend on capabilities that can operate seamlessly across land, sea and the critical transition zone in between.

Land Forces 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to engage with Defence personnel, law enforcement agencies, industry partners and technology providers about the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of littoral warfare.
