More Power and Easier, Faster Vehicle Preparation for Larger Fleets

A Wave Glider SV3 v300 Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) is now under construction and bound for a BlueZone customer in Australia.

Since the original Wave Glider SV3 was introduced in 2013, Liquid Robotics has amassed more than five years of lessons learned and all of these lessons, updates and improvements have been incorporated into the latest SV3 v300 Wave Glider.

Improved electrical power and endurance are provided by 23% greater power collection with higher power solar panels and a 40% increase in battery storage capacity. Power is conserved with low power steering and more power-efficient components. Compute power is increased using the Tegra TX1 processor which provides a 6 times increase in compute power with a faster boot and more stable and responsive operations

With Wave Glider fleets growing in size, easier and faster vehicle preparation is key to mobilising fleets of vehicles. Updates and improvements include:

  • New Souriau connectors. Eliminating locking or non-locking sleeves and enabling easier connection and disconnect of cables
  • Improved charge port & SIM card access. There is now no need to remove solar panels to charge and SIM card swap is user-configurable
  • Rapid Stand and Crate. Enables easier, lower risk deployments through efficient mobilisation, transport, and deployment of Wave Gliders

Reduced biofouling and simplified maintenance have been achieved by a new copper coating on the float and sub. The result is improved vehicle speed due to reduced drag, less time to clean & re-deploy and long life with proper care & maintenance.
