St Philip’s Christian College (SPCC) are third-time winners for the SUBs in Schools Technology Challenge!
BlueZone extends their congratulations to St Philip’s Christian College on this fantastic achievement! The St Philip’s Christian College (SPCC) in Newcastle has once again made history by winning the National Title in the SUBS in Schools competition for the third year in a row! The competition, which challenges students to design, build and operate a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV), was fiercely contested with several high-level naval personnel reviewing the work of the participating teams.
The SPCC’s team, called themselves Atlas Systems and was made up of talented and dedicated students, who impressed the judges with their innovative design and outstanding technical expertise. Not only did they take home the top prize, but they also received 10 out of 12 Major Category Awards, including the Innovation Award, Engineering Excellence Award, and the Best Presentation Award.
The team credit much of their achievements to their partnership with enterprises like BlueZone. BlueZone is a proud sponsor and mentor to the students by providing guidance and support throughout the competition. The students had the opportunity to work with BlueZone’s experts, who shared their knowledge and skills, helping the team to build an award-winning ROV.
The partnership between SPCC and BlueZone is a prime example of how the business community can support education and help prepare the next generation for the challenges of tomorrow. STEM skills are predicted to be in high demand for years to come, and initiatives like the SUBs in Schools competition are crucial in fostering and nurturing the talent and creativity of young engineers.
As a sponsor and mentor, BlueZone is delighted to have played a part in SPCC’s success. They are proud to help shape the future generation of engineers and support initiatives that encourage young people to pursue careers in STEM. Through this partnership, the students not only gained valuable technical skills but also learned essential teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of the students and their mentors.
