Saab and BlueZone’s Strategic Partnership in Underwater Systems

Saab and BlueZone Strengthen Partnership with Facility Tour and Technology Showcase

Saab Underwater Systems Representatives from Sweden and Australia visited the BlueZone Group head office in Thornton, NSW, Australia in August 2024. The meeting between BlueZone and Saab built on the pre-existing foundation and strengthened the position of the long-term partnership between the two companies.

The Saab delegation consisted of Head of Marketing and Sales Johan Strandlund, Director Marketing & Sales Olof Detlefsen, SUW Marketing & Sales, Strategy & Portfolio Director Victoria Steen, Senior Sales Director Ben Marland and Operations Manager Arran Brown. The visit provided the delegation an understanding of BlueZone’s capabilities and gain a deeper insight into the business. They also had the chance to tour BlueZone’s facilities and observe the latest cutting-edge technology and service within Australia.

Discussions regarding the latest developments in the RAS industry included Saab’s Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS) and the Anti-Submarine Warfare training target AUV-62 AT. Systems such as these play a crucial role in the future of Mine Warfare within Australia. Saab’s Double Eagle (DE) Mine Disposal System is testaments to the quality and endurance of Saab’s technology as it has supported the Royal Australian Navy for over 20 years. The Saab MuMNS builds on the DE pedigree and brings additional advantages to the difficult and enduring business of Mine Neutralisation.

Developing domestic and international relationships with Saab is fundamental to BlueZone, as it facilitates future opportunities and collaboration within the industry. The longevity and quality of Saab’s RAS solutions has been a cornerstone of BlueZone’s business for over two decades. Recent discussions about the future of Mine Warfare within Australia highlighted the importance of RAS systems such as the MuMNs and AUV-62AT. Collaboration between companies promotes the sharing of expertise, resources, and technology, ultimately leading to stronger and more effective defence and security solutions.
