AIS-Enabled Tracking and Recovery with Flexible, Durable Design

The Xeos by Satlink Petrel X Relay is an AIS-compatible recovery beacon designed for short-range asset retrieval and enhanced situational awareness. It detects nearby vessels through AIS message reception and transmits location data via RS-232 to a vehicle or platform, enabling automated asset protection and recovery.

Submersible up to 6,000 meters, the Petrel X Relay withstands extreme underwater conditions and enters a low-power sleep mode when submerged. It broadcasts its location via AIS, ensuring visibility to nearby vessels without requiring additional software, devices, or data plans.

Beyond asset recovery, the Petrel X Relay enhances security by continuously monitoring vessel activity. Real-time AIS data enables vehicles to adjust depth or trajectory automatically, minimizing collision risks in high-traffic areas. It supports AIS Message Type 21 (AtoN Report) and transmits GPS location data in NMEA-0183 format via its uBlox MAX-8C0 GNSS receiver and proprietary Xeos antenna.

With a durable titanium and glass dielectric antenna design, the Petrel X Relay ensures long-term reliability in extreme conditions. It operates within a 7-28V range, consuming minimal power across modes, from 270 mW in GPS acquisition to just 780 µW in underwater standby. The Bluetooth-enabled XeosBeacons App simplifies setup and diagnostics, while an optional upgrade extends its pressure tolerance to 11,000 meters.
