Kraken Robotics release KATFISH Autonomous Launch and Recovery System
Smooth and Safe Operations without Human Intervention
Kraken Robotics (Canada) endeavour to drive innovation beneath the surface. Striving to improve the safety and effectiveness of launch and recovery operations from small USVs, Kraken have developed the KATFISH Autonomous Launch and Recovery System (ALARS).
The KATFISH ALARS is designed for autonomous operations, taking away the need for human intervention in the harsh ocean environment. Fixed with sensors and video link capability the LAR process can be monitored remotely. Thus, removing the risk to technology and personnel during launch and recovery missions.
Prioritising asset protection while mitigating damage, the intelligent winch control maintains constant cable tension while assets are transitioning to and from the water. This feature combined with the automatic cable pay out system, pre-set to a load threshold, ensures smooth deployment while preventing excessive strain to the ALARS. The system is designed to detect possible damage and take proactive measures to prevent it from occurring!
Built to last, the KATFISH ALARS is constructed from Titanium for high strength, low weight, and low magnetic signature. It has an operational depth of up to 300m, with a tow cable length of up to 1500m. Designed for flexible deployment the KATFISH ALARS is best suitable for USVs from 11+ meters. It’s system components include USBL positioning, hydraulic power unit, and a liquid heat exchanger.
BlueZone Group is proud to expand its role in supporting Kraken’s operations across Australia and is committed to further strengthening the partnership as it continues to grow.
