FlexiClean for Falcon
FlexiClean for Falcon
Powerful and cost efficient cleaning using less expensive vehicles in challenging environments
The Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV is the most successful underwater electric robotic system of its class and is proven in numerous intricate and demanding missions across many commercial, security and scientific sectors. A key feature of the Falcon capability is the wide range of options, tooling and accessories developed over many years for demanding customer applications.
Adding to the Falcon tooling options, Lateral of Norway has released the first images of their game changing FlexiClean tool integrated into a Falcon skid. The electrically-powered FlexiClean Micro reduces the need for using large-scale work class ROVs (WROVs) and the associated costs of a specialist vessel and additional manpower for biofouling cleaning tasks. The FlexiClean Micro is a ‘little brother’ to the larger FlexiClean innovation, which was launched in 2014 and is now used worldwide – most recently on a deepwater marine growth cleaning project in Brazil. The Micro has a single layer of polyurethane fingers that remove growth more efficiently than many jetting and conventional brush options.
The Flexi Clean can do 95% of the cleaning projects in 5% of the time. This has been proven time and again.
The new system is in development and is controllable through the Falcon topside unit and accesses power via a new penetrator and custom PCB in the standard pod. First iteration is for a Falcon with a copper tether; however, development is underway for both generations of the Falcon with a fibre umbilical.
