Clever Buoy Engineering Development by BlueZone
BlueZone Chief Technology Officer, Darren Burrowes, said that BlueZone was pleased to have supported Shark Mitigation Service in development of the Optus “Clever Buoy”, an innovative device for detection of sharks at beaches.
“Shark Mitigation Systems came to us with their idea for the Clever Buoy”, said Burrowes, “And we rapidly assembled a skilled engineering team that took the concept from the whiteboard to at-sea testing in just twelve weeks”. The Clever Buoy integrates a sonar detection system, interface software, battery power and communications systems in one rugged buoy that can be deployed at beaches around the coastline. “The integration of acoustics, electronics and software for marine applications is a specialty of BlueZone”, said Burrowes, “And this it is this type of clever project is exciting for engineering teams to work on and represents great possibilities for future development”.
BlueZone provides sales, service and engineering to markets including Offshore Oil & Gas, Defence and Oceanographic science. It is this wide capability backed by skilled engineering teams that ensured the successful and rapid development of the Clever Buoy. Innovative products like the Clever Buoy point the way for the future of Australian engineering and manufacturing.
