Bayonet 250 AUGV EOD & MCM Capabilities
Merging the Sea and Land Domain with Amphibious Reconnaissance & Neutralisation
GreenSea IQ’s Bayonet Autonomous Underwater Ground Vehicles (AUGV) are designed to operate from the harsh surf zone to 100 m depths. Using robotic intelligence, the Bayonet AUGV offers flexible configurations, allowing for scalable size and power requirements to meet the demands of any payload, operation, or environment. The U.S. and NATO countries are developing programs and CONOPS requiring uncrewed systems that operate in the surf zone for rapid and recon support.
The Bayonet 250 AUGV successfully completed a mission to identify buried munitions based on burial depth and signal signature in the surf zone during the UXO survey demonstrations. The Bayonet 250 AUGV was select as a finalist in The Defence Innovation Unit (DIU) Autonomous Amphibious Response Vehicle (A2RV) program’s rapid prototyping phase. Of the 67 proposals, the Bayonet 250 crawler prototype was selected for exceptional performance, potential to detect, identify and neutralise naval mines and other explosive hazards in the challenging surf and beach landing zones.
The UXO demonstrations were conducted over 8 days and covered 18 square kilometres in depths up to 3 meters (10 ft). The Bayonet 250 AUGV operated in the challenging surf zone, amidst wave heights of 1.2 – 1.8 m (4-6 ft). Throughout the operations, the Bayonet 250 AUGV provided a stable and reliable platform whilst towing a sled equipped with White River Technology’s (WRT) marine APEX technology. The OPENSEA software platform allowed a rapid integration of the sensor sled which facilitated the detection and classification of objects buried to a depth of 3 meters based on material composition.
David Pearson, Program Manager at Greensea stated “The success of this program and our ability to operate effectively in the challenging surf zone environment is a testament to the strength of our team and our commitment to innovation. By quickly integrating a new sensor for buried UXO and munitions, mobilising an operations team, and collecting data in demanding conditions, we have demonstrated our capability to locate and address explosive hazards in one of the most dynamic and challenging operational environments.”
BlueZone’s partnership with Greensea IQ and their Bayonet AUGVs provides Australia and New Zealand with the latest technology for Mine Clearance / Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and Special Forces capability offerings. The successful UXO demonstrations using the Bayonet 250 AUGV showcased the adaptability and strength of these vehicles, making it the favoured platform for operators seeking a reliable and efficient AUGV.
