BlueZone team expands and adapts for new challenges
For more than twenty years BlueZone has provided excellence in sustainment for the Navy’s Mine Disposal System, the Saab Double Eagle Mk II. This remotely operated vehicle is arguably still the most advanced and proven system for mine disposal, a challenge that will face any Navy that wants to enable freedom of navigation from ports, through choke points, and at amphibious landings.
The service team at BlueZone has now expanded to provide support for many maritime robotics systems that are entering service with our customers. This includes Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles and Uncrewed Surface Vehicles that provide an adaptable and effective toolbox for the many challenges of the maritime environment.
Leading the team will be Curtis Schur, Senior Service Engineer, who will manage the maintenance of a wide range of systems including REMUS UUV, MARTAC USV, WAM-V USV, AUV-62 Training Target, and SUEX Diver Propulsion Vehicles. Curtis brings a wealth of experience to his new role and will build on BlueZone’s record of high-quality service, support, and engineering for maritime robotics.
“Uncrewed” does not mean “no crew” and the BlueZone service team is the technical support team that stands behind our operators ensuring that when they go in harm’s way all aspects of the technology are operating correctly. There is a never-ending challenge in uncrewed systems as software and hardware are rapidly developed and fielded by BlueZone’s globally leading OEM suppliers. The BlueZone service team needs to be familiar with technologies ranging from high-voltage power supplies to graphic processor units, from video to motor controllers and high-tension winches. Continual in-house and OEM training is the key to providing a high-quality service for our customers Australia wide.
