Double Eagle vehicle configurations and payload integration options provide a solution for every scenario, from search, and identification to mine neutralisation
BlueZone has supported the Saab Double Eagle system in Australia for the Royal Australian Navy for more than 20 years. The Double Eagle is still arguably the world’s most advanced system for mine disposal – a difficult and demanding task faced by all navies that seek freedom of manoeuvre.
Used by navies around the world, the Double Eagle family consists of a range of underwater vehicles for MCM operations. With different vehicle configurations and payload integration options, there is a solution for every scenario, from search, and identification to mine neutralisation.
The Saab Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS) builds on the Double Eagle pedigree and brings many advantages to the difficult and enduring business of Mine Neutralisation. Lessons learned over five years of development with both the Royal Navy in the UK and the Marine Nationale in France have taken MuMNS from a prototype to an industrialised product optimised for unmanned mine neutralisation. Furthermore, MuMNS has been designed from the ground up for ‘evergreening’: the capability to integrate advancements in technology, to adapt to operational lessons learned and to meet the changes to the operational threat.
It is clear that the fundamentals of Mine Counter Measures (MCM) remain the same. Sea mines have featured in every conflict since World War 2 and again feature in the conflict in Ukraine.
