The POCB Mk 2 provides the same function and performance as the original POCB but with a reduction in size and component count. The reduced size and weight allows for easy operation, handling and storage of the POCB Mk 2. The use of the latest available electronic components together with a reduction in parts count leads to increased reliability and robustness and addresses all known obsolescence issues.
Improved robustness is provided by the new case which has been fully moulded from epoxy resin. This provides a strong and lightweight case that is UV stable and cannot corrode. EMI/EMC issues have been addressed through the use of an internal coating of conductive material. Joysticks and switches selected for the POCB Mk 2 provide an ingress protection of IP 56 or better meaning that the entire unit is waterproof. Shock and vibration considerations have been included in the design through maintaining the identical design concepts used in the original POCB.
The POCB Mk 2 is equipped with a daylight readable LCD display. This provides for display of all information currently provided on the existing POCB. As an upgrade path, the LCD display can be configured to show new and additional information to aid operation of the Double Eagle MDV when close to the ship’s side.
