Buzzards Bay to Jervis Bay
Supporting Marine Autonomy around the Globe
BlueZone is active around the glove in October/November with major events planned for the support of maritime robotics and unmanned systems in Australia.
In October, a BlueZone team will head to Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts to support the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the New Generation REMUS 100, Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. New Generation REMUS is to be supplied to the Royal Australian Navy for the Project SEA 1770 Rapid Environmental Assessment. The BlueZone team has been working hard in preparation for the FAT making a significant contribution to the test documentation. Their visit to Hydroid Inc. will be the start of the technology transfer, that will build know-how for a REMUS support capability in Australia.
In November, BlueZone will be participating in the Industry Dynamic Exhibition (IDE) event at Autonomous Warrior 2018 at Jervis Bay. The aim of AW18 IDE is to provide the industry with an opportunity to display and exhibit innovation in autonomous and unmanned systems or technologies that may be suitable to support the ADF, including in maritime, littoral and land operations, and complex and contested environments such as combat at sea, regional security, military support and amphibious action.
REMUS will again feature to demonstrate through water communications, using REMUS 100 to detect Mine-Like Objects (MLO), and transmit positional data of the MLOs through the water to the M3V AUV, acting as a covert gateway buoy to forward transmit the data ashore.
The Teledyne Oceanscience Z-Boat will be the second unmanned system demonstration supported by BlueZone. Working with the Army, the Z-Boat will demonstrate remove surveillance capabilities using a hydride remotely operated and autonomous surface vessel, integrated with high-resolution video, thermal and still camera. Additionally, above and below water rapid environmental assessment using Multi Beam sonar and LiDAR systems will be shown.
