Congratulations to University of Newcastle Maritime RobotX Team
UVS congratulates The University of Newcastle Maritime RobotX Team on their successful complete of the RobotX Challenge in Singapore in October.
The Challenge saw the UON RobotX go up against some big name Universities from across the world with their entry that was one of the most technologically advanced systems at the competition. The Newcastle Team ran a full machine vision system (as opposed to laser scanners like other teams) and also included independently actuated motors, which meant the boat could move sidewards. Incredibly, Newcastle was the only team to waterproof all of the electronics!
At the end of the day Newcastle was able to finish in the middle of the pack with MIT winning the grand-final. All the hard work and determination didn’t go to waste and with the team picking up prizes/awards for winning the drag race event, helping out other teams, and being the most fashionable team at the competition.
