We are an Australian company with a growing international reputation
focusing on the design and servicing of high quality underwater
electronics used in harsh environments.
During dredging operations in Singapore Harbour there was a need to closely monitor the sediment transport in real time to avoid impact on designated areas. Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) from Teledyne RD Instruments were the logical choice to measure water currents and twenty instruments were deployed to provide for measurement at key locations. The BlueZone Group DL25 Extended Memory And Control (EMAC) was integrated into the deployment frame to provide the capability for real time delivery of data to shore-based servers.
The DL25 EMAC is housed in a subsea housing that can be deployed to 300m complete with the ADCP and the deployment frame. The DL25 was configured to provide for collection and recording of PD0 files from the ADCP. The files were buffered and then pushed to a shore-based server by either 3G modem. When received the ADCP data was used to validate sediment transport models. Complete raw PD0 data was recorded using the DL25 extended memory capability so that a backup of the ADCP data was available for the project.
The DL25 can be configured to support recording of single ping data if required. Increasingly many users have an interest in this data to support post-processing requirements. The DL25 transmits all serial data that is received from the ADCP, and logs it at the same time. Any serial data sent to the DL25 will be sent straight through to the ADCP, including hard breaks. The DL25 supports remote power-cycling of the ADCP using an onboard relay.
