RS-ORCA Porpoise – Single Channel Acoustic Data Recorder

The popular 5 channel RS-ORCA Acoustic Data Recorder is now available as a low-cost single channel variant called the Porpoise.

RS Aqua Application Scientist Ryan Mowat said that many customers had requested a single-channel version of the RS-ORCA to support cost effective deployments in situations where multi-channel channel recording is not required.

Both the RS-ORCA and the Porpoise are high specification underwater acoustic recorders and signal processors supporting extremely high sampling rates. The product family is available in several different form factors, supporting up to 5 synchronously sampled hydrophone inputs, with configurable sampling rates up to 384 kHz. Whilst deployed the RS-ORCA and Porpoise can autonomously process Sound Pressure Level noise data to standards required by the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. Processed and raw data can be streamed via Ethernet or WiFi, or stored on up to 4 TB of internal SD and SSD memory.
