Engineers Australia IWD 2021 Event – Newcastle

Celebrating women in Engineering

BlueZone attended the Engineers Australia International Women’s Day 2021 Event in Newcastle on 10th March 2021. It was a fantastic event and so inspiring to hear from the brilliant engineers on the panel and the keynote speaker, Dr Mae Jemison.

The event heard about the research and advancements that have been made in space exploration and the projects they are working on for the future. Developments made by scientists and engineers for use in space, such as the Mars rover ‘Perseverance’, have a real impact on life on Earth and for the subsea environment.

Working in extremely harsh environments such as space or in the ocean calls for engineers to push boundaries and discover new ways of doing things to go beyond what has been possible before. Remote-operated vehicles have enabled exploration in space and subsea environments and allow us to learn and develop where it was once considered impossible.

At BlueZone we encourage all engineers, both women and men, and we are proud to mentor future generations in STEM skills. We partner with other businesses that develop and strive for excellence such as Saab Australia, Thales, and Remus. STEM will create a better future for everyone.
