Capturing the Detail: AQUAlogger® 310TY for Environmental Research

For universities and research institutions, reliable environmental monitoring depends on instruments that can capture high-quality data across diverse field conditions. TECPRIME’s AQUAlogger® 310TY is a compact, self-contained turbidity and suspended sediment logger designed for deployments across freshwater and marine environments, supporting applications from rivers and lakes to coastal and oceanographic research.

At the centre of the AQUAlogger® 310TY is an optical backscatter sensor capable of measuring turbidity from 0 to over 10,000 FTU, with acquisition rates of up to 8 Hz, depending on configuration. The standard instrument is rated to 1,000 m, while variants within the range extend monitoring capabilities to 6,000 m and can incorporate temperature and pressure measurements.

A particularly valuable capability for sediment research is its SSC Converter, which uses in-situ samples to convert turbidity measurements into suspended sediment concentration. This makes the platform well suited to sediment transport studies, coastal erosion research, dredging monitoring, environmental impact assessments and broader water-quality programs.

Flexible Monitoring for Field Operations

Research programs rarely follow a single sampling methodology. The AQUAlogger® 310TY supports continuous and burst sampling, delayed starts, variable sample rates, intermittent logging and averaging. Operators can also initiate the instrument using a magnet swipe and check its status by shaking the logger. Optional automatic wipers are available for deployments where keeping the optical measurement surface clear is important.

These features give research teams greater flexibility when configuring an instrument around individual experiments and deployment strategies. The logger uses readily available AA batteries, includes non-volatile memory and is configured and downloaded through AQUAtalk® software, providing a practical platform for both field deployment and subsequent data management.

Part of a Broader Monitoring Portfolio

The AQUAlogger® 310TY forms part of TECPRIME’s broader range of oceanographic and suspended-particle monitoring technologies. Within the AQUAlogger 310 family, researchers can select configurations incorporating turbidity, temperature and pressure, alongside deep-water versions rated to 6,000 m. This allows universities and research organisations to select instrumentation around the measurement parameters and operating depths required for individual research programs.

For teams undertaking long-term environmental monitoring, sediment research or multidisciplinary oceanographic studies, the AQUAlogger® 310TY provides a versatile way to collect turbidity and suspended sediment data across a wide range of aquatic environments
