BlueZone Supports BioPower Systems

BlueZone has provided equipment and services to BioPower Systems (BPS), a renewable energy technology company based in Sydney, Australia. BPS is developing systems for both wave and tidal power conversion.

For the Port Fairy Pilot Wave Energy Project, BlueZone has supplied both high voltage and low voltage cables and subsea connectors to support installation and ocean-testing of a pilot bioWAVE unit. Changes were required to the cabling and connector configuration and the specialised cable moulding capabilities of the BlueZone workshops in Perth were ideally placed to provide a rapid turnaround and test of the reconfigured cables. Supported by the OEM, BlueZone technical staff completed the re-termination, insulation resistance test and HiPot test to the requirements of the project.

The CEO of BPS, Dr. Timothy Finnigan, said that it was important to have local support for innovative projects such as the Port Fairy Pilot Wave Energy Project. “The ocean renewables industry is in a growth and learning phase”, said Dr. Finnigan “As the industry faces new challenges in the ocean it is critical that companies such as UVS are able to respond rapidly with innovative solutions to meet project deadlines”.
