DeepSea Power & Light SeaVent®: Protecting Subsea Systems in Extreme Environments

Compact, Reliable Pressure Protection for Critical Systems

Subsea and sealed electronic systems operate in some of the most demanding environments on Earth, where pressure differentials, thermal cycling, and depth‑induced stresses can compromise system integrity. DeepSea Power & Light’s SeaVent® pressure relief valves are purpose-designed to address these challenges, providing a compact and reliable means of managing internal pressure in sealed housings across a wide range of marine, defence, and industrial applications.

What Is a SeaVent Pressure Relief Valve?

SeaVent® is a compact pressure relief and vacuum valve designed to protect sealed enclosures from over‑pressure and vacuum conditions. The valve opens at a defined cracking pressure, allowing excess internal pressure to vent safely, while also functioning as a vacuum port to equalise pressure during ascent or cooling. The design incorporates single or dual O‑ring sealing options, providing redundancy and enhanced protection against leakage in harsh subsea environments. Cracking pressures can be customised to suit specific system requirements rather than relying on a one‑size‑fits‑all solution.

Built for Extreme Depth and Durability

SeaVent valves are available in a range of materials, including Titanium 6Al‑4V, PEEK, Aluminium 6061, and passivated Stainless Steel 316, enabling compatibility with diverse system designs and corrosion requirements.

Depending on configuration and material selection, SeaVent valves are depth‑rated to 6,000 metres or 11,000 metres, supporting both shallow‑water instrumentation to full ocean‑depth systems. Despite these extreme ratings, the valves remain exceptionally compact, with diameters as small as approximately 14–21 mm and weights measured in grams; an important consideration for buoyancy‑critical subsea platforms.

Applications Across Multiple Industries

SeaVent pressure relief valves are used wherever sealed systems must survive pressure changes without compromising internal components. Typical applications include:

  • Defence and security: Subsea sensors, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and sealed electronics used in mine countermeasures, surveillance, and undersea warfare.
  • Oceanographic and research systems: Instrument housings, data loggers, and sensor packages deployed at depth.
  • Commercial subsea and offshore energy: Inspection tools, monitoring equipment, and pressure‑balanced enclosures.
  • Industrial and scientific equipment: Any sealed system exposed to pressure or temperature‑driven volume changes.

In each case, SeaVent valves protect sensitive electronics and mechanical components by preventing structural damage, seal failure, or condensation caused by pressure imbalance.

A Small Component with a Critical Role

While compact in size, SeaVent® pressure relief valves play a critical role in safeguarding high‑value subsea systems. With deep‑water ratings, customisable cracking pressures, and flexible material options, SeaVent delivers proven pressure management for applications where failure is not an option—supported locally in Australia through BlueZone Group.
