Advanced Manufacturing at BlueZone Group
Blue Zone Group has been pleased to host a visit of delegates organised by the Australian Advanced Manufacturing Council (AAMC). The AAMC is a CEO-led private sector initiative, driving industry and policy change to foster Australia’s comparative advantages in advanced manufacturing.
At the Blue Zone Group facility in Newcastle, delegates saw the sovereign industry capability established for support of the Royal Australian Navy “Double Eagle ” Mine Disposal System. For more than 15-years maintenance, modification, upgrade and repairs of the Double Eagle system have been conducted in support of Navy operations in Australian and overseas waters. First introduced to service in 2000, the Double Eagle system is still the leading mine disposal system of its type and is positioned to be upgraded to meet the requirements for Project SEA1179 Minehunter Coastal life extension.
During the tour delegates observed smart manufacturing projects including the Clever Buoy Shark Detection System and the SeaUrchin Marine Power Generator. In other developments the development of the SewerSerpent2255(r) product has the potential to enable pipeline condition assessment “beyond CCTV”.
