Future for Manufacturing and Engineering

UVS Chief Technology Officer, Darren Burrowes, is to participate in the Australian Industry Group Summit on the Future for Manufacturing and Engineering to be held in Newcastle 29 and 31 July 2104.

The Hunter region has enjoyed steady growth over the previous 20 years due primarily to the expansion of the coal mining industry and the construction of supporting infrastructure. In September 2012 conditions changed as the mining companies wound back spending in new build, maintenance and day to day services. Remaining contractors have had face a cut in contract values and there has been minimal recovery due to the long term projections for the price of thermal coal.

Darren will join key national, international and local speakers who will provide their insights into the factors impacting on manufacturing and engineering. Local companies will describe steps they have taken to reposition their businesses to grow and prosper and Darren will speak on the global engagement for achieved by ATSA/UVS as a niche manufacturing, service and technology company.
